Description of the type of yoga Hilary teaches

Hilary Veen received her yoga certification 15 years ago at the Esther Myers Yoga Studio in Toronto.  She immediately connected to the type of yoga this studio teaches, which is in spirit of the lateVanda Scaravelli. Since then, she has taken many workshops and retreats that have further inspired and shaped her teaching.  

Yoga in the spirit of Vanda Scaravelli, who is from Italy, focuses on using the power of the breath and gravity, which are always with us, to enliven the spine, unraveling tension and ultimately freeing the body. Through a spirit of exploration and adventure, one starts to truly feel what is happening in the body.  The teacher aids this journey through careful observation, thoughtful use of hands-on assistance and respect for the uniqueness of each individual.  The focus is on deep stretching and strengthening all parts of the body.  Attention to the breath while holding the poses allows you to explore what’s going on in your body.  In these classes you receive plenty of individual attention in a secure environment where you go at your own pace.
